The two are now on the road around the US, chronicling their journey in a tiny house , through videos, interviews, and journal entries, which you can check out on their blog. In their home, you’ll find tables that double as photo frames and chalkboards, tansu storage steps that double as shelving (and made from salvaged furniture, barrels, and crates), and one of the more spacious tiny house lofts out there. The tour is long, but there’s A LOT to their home, and its worth checking out!

In this little clip, Derek and Dustin Diedricksen (www.relaxshacks.com) give a tour of a long abandoned log cabin, hand-built by teenagers, in the woods of Connecticut- outside Norwich. This log cabin hasn’t been used since the 90s, but still has a Yotul wood stove within and a few remnants of its “glory days”. Built by Derek and Dustin’s cousins Neil and Kurt Malek (and their friends), this blog clip was shot to preserve the memory of a cabin in the woods that won’t be around forever. The construction is simple, and self-invented in most cases, but clever as well- especially for them having built it at so early an age.

In this episode, Derek Deek Diedricksen gives us an early look at a recycled material tiny office pod/cabin that he’s been working on for a NYU professor. This little shelter, which can sleep two, or would make for a great playhouse for kids, will later be rolled (its on wheels) down to a pond-side locale in New Jersey, once completed and shipped out from its Boston-area build site. The structure uses a huge amount of recycled wood, plywood, windows, and even hardware, all found on the side of the road, or being thrown away at build site (in dumpsters).
