258 Sq. Ft. Maringotka Modern Wagon Tiny House

258 Sq. Ft. Maringotka Modern Wagon Tiny House

~
This is a modern version of a traditional wagon tiny house called the Maringotka designed by Miramari Design in Prague.

It’s a wonderful design that you can use to live simply in full-time but you can also use it to build an affordable vacation home or even to create a fun hotel where people can try out alternative living spaces.

Unlike most tiny homes on wheels this one isn’t really made to legally be towed on public roads, although it can quite easily be moved by hiring a company to do it for you.

The modern caravan offers 258 sq. ft. of space inside and Miramari Design offers two different floor plans. When you go inside you’ll find a full kitchen, bathroom, sleeping platform, dining area, and more. Please enjoy, learn more, and re-share below.

COUSIN CABANA: A LAKESIDE GETAWAY IN TEXAS

This breathtaking cabin on Lake Austin serves as a quiet weekend retreat, where its owners enjoy hosting friends and family.

The 480-square-foot home was built on a 5-acre lot that has been used for family gatherings since the 1970’s. The owners wanted to keep its family-friendly tradition alive by designing a small space with a big feel to continue hosting their family.

The cabin consists of a “great room” that holds the kitchen, dining and living room. The home also has a full bathroom, plenty of storage, and a deck with stunning views of the lake.

The owners opted for natural materials and a design that would allow the home to last many years with little maintenance. The home features rainscreen siding, custom floor-to-ceiling face-glazed steel windows, and an integrated board-formed concrete foundation-low wall-planter.

Named the “Cousin Cabana”, the home was designed by Austin architect, Jared Haas of Un.Box Studio. Also essential to the home’s design and build are interior designer, Herb Schoening; landscape architect, Tait Moring; and contractor, True Building.

Bigger Trailers for Bigger Tiny Houses on Wheels

Bigger Trailers for Bigger Tiny Houses on Wheels

~
This morning I opened an e-mail from one of our readers, Mrs Tiny Lady, regarding the possibility of bigger trailers for bigger tiny house s on wheels (in case you might be interested in that). 🙂

In it she included several links to diagrams of larger trailers versus the more usual flat bed trailers we use for building tiny homes.
Maybe you need more space because of your family, your hobbies, or your work/business. But you still want the mobility of a tiny house and the benefits that go along with them.

How about these 18 wheeler tractor trailers? They’re normally meant for big loads, moving tractor trailers, and other heavy duty equipment. What if we were to build a ‘tiny’ house on one of these? It’s a great way to get more space and eliminate the need for lofts while still remaining mobile.

Every year our family makes a Christmas card video to send out to our Family and Friends. This year we wanted to do something a little different. We hoped we could use the video to give a gift to a special family—someone deserving of a little extra help this year.
We thought a lot about what we could do and felt inspired to build a tiny house for a family without a home for the holidays. We felt like there was a specific person we were supposed to build it for. So back in August of this year, we got started. We worked every day—even nights and weekends in order to finish this before Christmas. By Thanksgiving we had enough of it done that we could shoot the Christmas Card video and start an essay contest and donation campaign to Charity Water. Anyone who donated to Charity Water could email us a short essay and nominate someone they felt could really use this tiny home for the holidays. Word started spreading. We quickly had tons of very special essays come in — people sharing their heartfelt concern for friends and family who for one reason or another had found themselves in a situation where this house would literally change their lives. We wished we had 100 tiny house s we ...Read More
